Homemade Bread

Look who made bread? Without a bread machine!

I used to make bread with a bread machine. And I love them. Now, I wanted to try making it “manually”. And it just so happen that the April issue of Healthy Food Guide (UK edition) has a super simple recipe for homemade bread. Game on!

The recipe called for all white bread flour. But I always like the chew and the wholesome taste of wholemeal bread, so I used a 3:1 ratio of white bread flour to whole meal flour. The bread turned out great! And much bigger than I expected. I had to freeze 3/4 of it cause there is no way Kai and I can finish all of them before they turn bad. Even after freezing, they taste awesome. They have a nice chew, and is not very dense at all. I just pop them in the toaster and spread on some butter.

In retrospect, I feel that it’s missing something. I don’t know what yet, but I’d try to tweak the recipe just a tiny bit next time. Will let you all know.

You know what they say, looks can be deceiving. LOL. I’m still trying to improve it on the taste department. Or maybe I should just try another recipe. πŸ˜›
